A continuation of the first... I thought it turned out very well, though the photo isn't of the best quality. It is, however, much better than the mess of it my scanner produced.
Done in: Compressed charcoal (2B, 4B, & 6B) White Conte crayon "Crimson Red" Prismacolor colored pencil Fine Faber Castell black PITT artist pen
PS I cannot draw trees or tree bark or leaves for the life of me...
I've had this picture sitting on my devwatch for a looooong time, and everytime I visited DA, I'd go "I simply have to comment on that!". I think you've gone over leaps and bounds with this one. The face is very, very well done, the somewhat apathic emotion is captured perfectly in the eyes. Specially compared with your last face-effort, and looking at the sketch, one can see you've gone through a whole lot of work to achieve it. Well, it really paid off, I believe.
The concept breathes originality and hold a very deep meaning here. Indeed, beloved ones are like trees: your passion grows and grows endlessly, blossoming in tiny yet consistent moments of happiness, as he/she tempts you. A concept beautifully represented by the tree and the apple. And it really is like something that is stuck to your hair: you can't get it off you, no matter how much you try to brush it away.
Expertly well done, Kitaku. If I could, I'd suggest this as a Daily Deviation. But with DD or no DD, let this be a testament that you can do it, that you're allowed to believe that you can become a truly great artist. May I never catch you doubting yourself again, because if I do, I'll throw this drawing in your face and nag till you reckon its value.
Atly, I apologize for taking nearly forever to reply to your very kind comment/ critique. I really have no excuse, besides having no idea how to reply. I appreciate everything about this comment. I'm so happy that the feelings I put into this piece and my idea came across to somebody other than myself. Thank you very much for your encouraging words!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
